In April of 2007, God put it on my heart to
do more than I had ever done before to
spread the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout
our great nation. Through the devastating
events at Virginia Tech University came the
sad realization that more had to be done to
reach our young people with the gospel of
Jesus Christ. I do believe that had the
young man, who caused so much pain to
others, been reached out to and effectively
brought into fellowship with loving, caring
Christians who were prepared to lay down
their lives for him, he could have changed
his ways.
Of
course, that's all wishful thinking now...
at least for him. But it's not too late for
the rest of our young people. So, when God
inspired me to do something radical and
assertive, I launched a campaign to help
start 100 new Christian churches in America
in a short three to six month period of
time. And I'm not talking simply about
church organization, article and bylaw
documents and the sort.
I'm
talking about approaching it from a
profoundly spiritual perspective. Why so
little time then? I just believed God was
ready to move powerfully in the world, and
particularly our nation, and simply wanted
me to come along.
Here's
how I went about this campaign. I offered
visitors to my website the opportunity to
claim a free copy of the church-starting
resource I authored,
Building On Faith: Everything You
Need To Know About Starting Your Own Church.
I asked them to qualify themselves as
follows: (a) A principal of an existing or
to-be-formed ministry had to request the
free copy; (b) They had to be willing to
take immediate action to start a church; (c)
They needed to have a fellowship, however
small, that was willing to make the
necessary emotional, spiritual and financial
investments and sacrifices needed to start a
church and nurture it to maturity; (d) They
need to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ
from the Holy Scriptures of the bible; and
(e) They had to be willing to share their
story.
Most of
those who responded initially thought my
help would be limited to a Christian
church organization, article and bylaw
documentation, and perhaps tax exemption.
They didn't realize how much I really wanted
their stories so other Christian leaders and
saints throughout America could be inspired.
When a young minister in Texas starts a
church with few funds, but the support of a
handful of friends and others who know and
believe in him... that leaves few excuses
for anyone else.
How could
someone with more age and experience,
perhaps more funding, and even a larger
initial fellowship, not be convicted and at
once inspired? That's what happens when
someone is willing to step out in faith. And
that was my hope. That by my stepping out in
faith, others would do the same and it would
become contagious.
As of the
writing of this article, I'm glad to say
that my campaign is still going strong. I
will soon have many stories to share with
the American Christian community about the
inspirational men and women who have
sacrificed and stepped out in faith.
If you have been called by God to start, or
help start, a church... you can't go wrong
with Building On Faith. It's the gold
standard in use today by Christian church
start-ups nationwide. And it was authored by
yours truly... a devoted Christian and
church law expert. Take a closer look.
