Church
Planting
|
Church planting
can be a difficult task, as it requires patience
and optimism, as well as knowledge of many
legal, business and ecclesiastical matters.
He who desire to start a church must look
in-depth into the demands and determine if
they have the heart and stamina to fulfill their
role. Once the process is begun, individuals
who have taken on the responsibility will need
much help from others, including those in the
community interested in the progress of the work
and those who are to become the flock.
For example, when someone is involved in
church planting, he or she may
occasionally need
a respite from the stress and demands of the
ministry. In some churches, church members and
even people from the surrounding community come together to
assist monetarily in sending the individual on
vacation or to a Bible retreat. More
traditionally, other churches... including
group-affiliated churches, form a Sabbatical
policy and fund it. A Sabbatical can be a
great source of invigoration for a tired
individual who is constantly involved in seeing
the plans for a new planting are taken care
of.
Others wishing to aid during the
church
planting
process at the outset can offer
alternate facilities for congregational meetings,
whether it be an office building that could be used
for Sunday worship or individual homes where
smaller groups can participate in Bible study.
Just because there is no current building
designated for worship does not mean that the
faithful should postpone their worship.
One aspect of
church planting
in which
assistance is always much appreciated is
financial or materials donations. There is a
lot of work involved that must be funded in
launching a new place of worship.
And of course, monetary donations to a building and
recruitment effort are well-spent, either
going straight to the cost of salaries or
materials, or used to fund recruitment
activities in the community.
Then, there are the initial concerns about
the legal and business aspects of starting a
church. In fact, there are many
ecclesiastical (uniquely church-related)
matters that can fall in this category. For
these matters, there is an authoritative
resource you can access. It's called
Building On Faith:
Everything You Need To Know About Starting
Your Own Church.
It's the gold standard in use today by
church start-ups in America. And it's
written by Abe Hernandez, Esq., a devoted
Christian and church law expert.
