OK, let's be clear from the outset. If you plan
on
starting your own church, you should
understand that the church belongs to Jesus
Christ. There is only one Lord, one Savior, one
Body... on church. The church is the people of
God and we all belong to Him. So, if you've been
Called by God to start a Christian church, it
will not belong to you, but to Jesus Christ...
the head of the body.
Which is to
say that you are really a servant whom God has
called as an instrument to help Him do His good
and perfect will. Haven't you yourself had it
with arrogance and me-greater-than-you attitudes
in churches here and there? Haven't you had it
with man-made efforts to call upon God with
rules and legalism?
Well then,
don't take God people there.
Starting your own church, or more
accurately, starting a local congregation of
Christ's church, ought to be among the most pure
and profoundly spiritual experiences of your
life. You shouldn't do it if you're not
spiritually fit to do it.
But if you
are, then don't delay. Too many good men and
women delay because of uncertainly, fear of the
unknown, and misguided attempts to control
matters that they will never have the
power to control. Like what others think about
them... and, whether someone else thinks they're
ready to exercise obedience toward God.
Too many
"5-talent" disciples have resisted their Calling
into the ministry and by so doing, have been
rebellious toward God. Sometimes, all you need
is to hear someone else tell you what they see.
Sometimes, you need to go deep in prayer about
the stirring in your heart. And sometimes, you
need to wake up and realize that your calling
may not really be of God, but perhaps, more like
self-puffery in thinking you can do something
better than others.
That is what
I call not starting a church for Jesus Christ,
but actually
starting your own church, in the truest
sense of the term. That's not necessarily a good
thing. Turn it around today.

finally decide to obey God's Calling and you

business tasks of starting a church, take a
